Keep reading to see how the University of Puget Sound, Reacting Endeavor Grant recipient and private liberal arts college in Tacoma, Washington, has been using Reacting to the Past for well over a decade to instill energy and empathy into classes across disciplines, and to spur meaningful conversation in and outside of the classroom.
UPS offers several classes about this classical time period, including Professors at the University of Puget Sound use Reacting to the Past (RTTP) to challenge and motivate students in classes on everything from First Year Seminar to French, and Classics to Government.
Eric Orlin, Professor of Classics, was an early adopter of Reacting to the Past in the 2000s, and the first on Puget Sound campus; in fact, a colleague calls him the “granddaddy” of Reacting at the University of Puget Sound.Two essay applicants will each receive a one-time ,000 college scholarship and a VIP experience at the John Deere Classic.Each summer, 96 participants from the chapter network are selected to attend the week-long academy.The First Tee junior golf program doesn’t just get kids on the course, it offers exciting opportunities for growth.With the help of The First Tee national corporate partners, more advanced participants can apply to attend these golf and leadership events.Deadline: March 26 An official PGA TOUR Champions event at Pebble Beach Golf Links, the tournament pairs top participants from The First Tee with a PGA TOUR Champions player and amateurs.To be selected, juniors are measured in both golf ability and life skills knowledge. Deadline: May 14 Teenage participants can compete through an essay contest for the opportunity to attend the Wells Fargo Championship in Wilmington, N. Four winners are selected, with the grand prize winner receiving the opportunity to play in the pro-am with the PGA TOUR player of their choice.Member schools should plan to contribute to the consortium’s work groups: Marketing, Forms, Mentoring, and Events.Work groups meet throughout the year to refine and improve the consortium’s messaging and tools to achieve our mission and continue to grow our value for our members.The group has a self-governing Steering Committee with elected officers.All Puget Sound area schools affiliated with NWAIS are invited to join the consortium.
