In the exposition, we acknowledge that Baba and Amir are completely opposite and different characters.Baba lies about fathering Hassan, and Amir refuses to admit he witnessed Hassan get abused. Middle Despite this admirable thinking, he still allows himself to be restricted by the societal ideology of Pashtun and Hazara people, just like Amir.Baba's way of thinking is literally displayed in his house, the house of best intentions, because the class barrier between these two groups of people still exists. All in all, the interaction with all these aspects- ideologies, context, and characterization- becomes instrumental in Amir and Baba's decision to deceive their family. In Amir’s neighborhood, there is an annual kite-fighting tournament during the icy season when schools close.Kite strings are strung with broken glass, which cut competing kites loose, thus cutting them from the competition.“Kite runners” chase the loose kites, until the last fallen kite is declared the winner. Finally, during this tournament, Amir wins, sending a blue kite into the sky.In the novel 'The Kite Runner', written by Khaled Hosseini, the relationships between Amir and Hassan, and Baba and Ali steers the direction the plot takes.Afghanistan is a nation where culture, tradition and family are of monumental importance, we see this in the novel. This crucial decision reveals Amir’s inability to do what is right and drives the plot forward. He recalls Hassan’s dream about a lake and reimagines himself as the monster in the dream, dragging Hassan down to his death.Amir’s decision not to act also underscores the ethnic tensions between the Pashtuns and Hazaras, as Assef remarks coldly, “it’s only a Hazara.” I thought about Hassan’s dream, the one about us swimming in the lake. Amir once believed that winning the kite tournament would relieve him of his guilt over his mother’s death and make him worthy in his father’s eyes, but his betrayal of Hassan has made that impossible.
