In this thesis project, we intend to implement Alamouti Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (MIMO) system using GNU Radio and Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) hardware.

The implementation focuses on the MIMO system with two transmit antennas and two receive antennas, with all the antennas working under same frequency.

Finally, possible improvements to the design are discussed and future opportunities explored.

With increasing high-data-rate requirements for communication services, multi-antenna MIMO technology has grown as an advanced and effective approach featuring for its high bandwidth-efficiency and high date rate transmission.

Space-time code is applied to multi-antenna channels for both spatial diversity and time diversity.

The data are specifically copied and encoded for multiple transmitting antennas to include more details, while at the receive side, the signals are independently received by each receiving antennas but jointly decoded to overcome transmission errors.Learn More USRP provides a design solution to rapidly prototype wireless communications systems, which leads to faster results. You can present applications with real-world signals such as multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) and LTE/Wi Fi testbeds.By continuing to use this site, you consent to the use of cookies. We use cookies to offer you a better experience, personalize content, tailor advertising, provide social media features, and better understand the use of our services.A spectrally efficient digital modulation scheme is selected and a data packet structure is proposed. The system design considers peculiarities of both the USRP and the hardware Si4432 transceiver.Learn More Modern electronic warfare, SIGINT, and radar systems capture, process, and record wide signal bandwidths at a broad range of frequencies.Engineers need flexible hardware, software, and instrumentation to adapt these systems to new signal types and threats.Several new blocks, such as Alamouti source block and Alamouti receiver block, are developed and added into GNU Radio library to realize implement functionality.Second, we designed a customized data frame structure with special pilot signal for the system to acquire channel state information.
